4 egg yolks
½ cup granulated sugar
¾ cup heavy cream
1 cup mascarpone
1 cup coffee or espresso
¼ Cup Kahlua
1 tablespoons cocoa powder
About 24 ladyfingers
Prepare the cream: With an electric mixer whip together the egg yolks and half of the sugar till thick and pale yellow. Set aside.
In a separate bowl, whip heavy cream and remaining sugar, add mascarpone and whip again until thick and spreadable. Gently fold the mascarpone mixture into the egg yolk mixture.
In a separate bowl combine the coffee and Kahlua.
Assemble the tiramisu: dust the bottom of an 8 x 8 dish with cocoa powder. Dip each lady finger into the coffee mixture and place over the cocoa powder. Repeat until you have a single layer of ladyfingers on the bottom of the dish. Spread half of the cream over. Repeat with remaining ladyfingers creating the second layer and spread the remaining cream over. Dust with cocoa powder and refrigerate for at least 4 hrs, but preferably overnight,
