Fiery Apple Crumble
Ingredients:
- 3/4 cup Fireball Cinnamon Whiskey
- For the Apple Filling:
- 6 cups chopped apples (approx. 5-6 medium apples)
- 2 tsp lemon juice
- ½ cup caramel dessert sauce
- 2 Tbsp butter
- ⅓ cup brown sugar
- 2 tsp ground cinnamon
- ¾ cup Fireball Cinnamon Whisky
- For the Crumble:
- ¾ cup all-purpose flour
- ½ cup oats
- ¾ cup brown sugar
- 1 tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp ground cinnamon
- 9 Tbsp butter, softened
- vanilla ice cream, optional (we recommend vanilla with a caramel swirl)
Directions:
Serves 6-8
Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cook Time: 30 minutes
Preheat the oven to 375°F.
Combine chopped apples and lemon juice in a large bowl to prevent discoloration. Over medium-high heat, melt the butter in a cast iron or heavy frying pan on the stovetop until slightly bubbling. Stir in Fireball Cinnamon Whisky, sugar and cinnamon. Remove pan from heat, stir in the caramel sauce and set aside.
For the crumble, mix dry ingredients together in a bowl. Then using your hands, mix in softened butter, making sure it's well-distributed throughout. The mixture should be crumbly, with some larger pieces.
Add apples to the pan with caramel sauce and mix together. Top with crumble and bake for 30 minutes, or until the apples are bubbling.
Serve with ice cream, if desired. Top with a little more Fireball Cinnamon Whisky for an extra kick.
