Mix It Yourself

3-4 fresh strawberries, rinsed and hulled
3 large fresh basil leaves
2 ounces Hendricks gin
1 ounce St. Germain
1 ounce Lillet
Basil leaf for garnish

This cocktail by Susan Axelrod, Food Editor of Maine Magazine, is the perfect way to celebrate a long-awaited Maine spring. Muddle the strawberries and mint in a cocktail shaker. Add 2-3 ice cubes, gin, St. Germain and Lillet. Shake well and strain into a cocktail glass filled with crushed ice. Top with seltzer and stir gently. Garnish with basil leaf.
